The City of York has a long-standing history of Freemasonry which can be traced back to the 17th Century.
Alcuin Lodge 6300 was consecrated in 1946, named after the Scholar Alcuin whose motto “Learn in order to teach” is now the motto of the Lodge. Now over 70 years old, Alcuin Lodge has a fine tradition of Masonic excellence, charitable giving and an annual calendar of social events for family and friends both Masonic and non-Masonic.
Alcuin 6300 is a private and independent Lodge, however, naturally it follows the Rules and Regulations laid down by the United Grand Lodge of England.
Alcuin Lodge meets monthly at Castlegate House, York, on the second Tuesday except in July and August. Our Installation meeting is held in December.
